Nobel Laureate Professor Michael Levitt granted the title of XJTU honorary professor

On October 24th, Professor Michael Levitt, the 2013 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, visited XJTU and was granted the title of XJTU honorary professor. Professor Michael Levitt also delivered an academic speech to XJTU teachers and students.

Michael Levitt is a well-known biophysicist and currently works at Stanford University. He was one of the co-winners of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry because of his outstanding contributions to the development of multi-scale models for complex chemical systems.

At the beginning of the report, Vice President Xi Guang delivered a speech and welcomed Professor Michael Levitt to XJTU, and gave a detailed introduction to Professor Michael Levitt's research and academic experience. Subsequently, Vice President Xi Guang issued the certificate of honorary professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University to Professor Michael Levitt.

The speech was entitled "Birth and future of multiscale modeling of macromolecules". Professor Michael Levitt encouraged young scientists to engage in scientific research with passion, perseverance, creativity and kindness.

This report was organized by the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology. Professor Michael Levitt is the 12th of Nobel laureates who have visited XJTU in the past five years.
